Our Story

A dream taking root

Groundwork Botanicals is just getting started. Right now it's a small container garden in St. Augustine, Florida (USDA Zone 9b) — a few pots, a head full of plans, and a deep love for growing things. We're not an established farm yet, and we're not pretending to be. This is a dream being realized one day, and one season, at a time.

Where we're headed

The goal is to grow herbs, peppers, and botanicals by hand and turn them into small-batch goods — herbal tea blends, spice mixes, and dried flowers. At the heart of it is the datil pepper, a fiery, fruity heirloom native to St. Augustine and found almost nowhere else in the world. Alongside it we're starting butterfly pea for color-changing tea, holy basil, lemon balm, bee balm, and a rotating cast of peppers and botanicals.

Growing it the honest way

Everything will be grown from the ground up, in containers and raised beds, in small batches. Before we can sell a thing, we have to grow it first — so the shop is still on its way. We'd rather do it slowly and well than rush it.

This website, the blog, and the shop will all grow alongside the garden. If you're reading this, you're here at the very beginning — thank you for that. Follow along on the blog as the dream takes root. 🌱
